Where to Celebrate Halloween in the Portland Area: Top Pumpkin Patches, Haunted Attractions & Family Trick-or-Treat Spots

October 2, 2025

Welcome to October in Portland! A time when crisp air, golden leaves, and pumpkin-spiced everything beckon you outdoors - the Green Buck Real Estate team’s favorite time of year! Whether you're a longtime local or new to the area, fall in the Pacific Northwest is a perfect backdrop for Halloween fun. Below is your seasonal guide: pumpkin patches to explore, spooky (and not-so-spooky) attractions, and trick-or-treat hotspots.

🎃 Pumpkin Patches

Here are some of the most beloved local pumpkin patches around Portland that deliver charm, fresh gourds, and family-friendly fall fun:

The Pumpkin Patch (Sauvie Island)
A classic favorite. Their 25-acre U-pick pumpkin field is open daily (10 a.m.–6 p.m.), no reservation needed. You’ll also find a corn maze, hayrides (around $2 per person), and a produce market and barn animals.

Plumper Pumpkin Patch
Located on NW Old Cornelius Pass Road, Plumper offers over 25 pumpkin varieties, a corn maze, petting zoo, obstacle course, and freshly made pumpkin donuts.

Bella Organic Pumpkin Patch & Winery
Nestled on Sauvie Island, Bella combines farm fun with wine & cider. Their regular corn maze, pumpkin patch, and haunted maze (opening weekend nights) are popular draws.

Hoffman Farms
In Beaverton/SW area, Hoffman Farms offers U-pick pumpkins, a 10-acre corn maze, a miniature train (“Scholls Valley Railroad”), live music on weekends, and a farm store.

When visiting, always check each farm’s site or social media for hours, admission, event schedules, and any rain-day changes! And checkout this Instagram Reel for a short list of free admission patches!

👻 October Attractions & Haunted Highlights

Embrace spooky season with these must-see attractions.

Halloweentown, St. Helens
One of the region’s signature Halloween celebrations, St. Helens goes all in with a month-long festival. Expect costume contests, trick-or-treating through the historic Old Town District, haunted tours, scarecrow displays, and a replica of the “skeleton taxi” from the Halloweentown movie.

Haunted Houses & Tours in Portland
Portland’s paranormal side comes alive in October! From haunted houses to ghost walks and mysterious tours, there’s spooky fun for thrill-seekers and families alike.

Davis Graveyard (Milwaukie)
This is one of the most famous (and over-the-top) home haunt displays in the region. Thousands come every year to see the elaborate graveyard setup, light and sound effects, and creative installations.

Witch Paddle (SUP WOW)
For something whimsical and unique, Portland’s annual “Witches on the Willamette” event involves costumed participants stand-up paddleboarding on the Willamette River.

🍬 Best Neighborhoods & Spots for Trick-or-Treat

Many neighborhoods in Metro Portland go all out on Halloween, creating festive, walkable trick-or-treat routes. Here are some of our favorites:

Irvington & Laurelhurst (NE Portland) - This area is well known for going big on Halloween! Many homes are decorated elaborately, and the neighborhoods have a reputation among locals as one of the “must-do” trick-or-treat areas. Because this area was originally developed as a largely residential district, the trick-or-treating experience tends to stay on streets rather than getting pulled into busy corners.

Villebois (Wilsonville) - This is one of the more family-oriented neighborhoods in the Wilsonville area, and locals often praise it as a safe, walkable trick-or-treat zone. The neighborhood hosts an annual VilleBOO event: a “Monster March” parade around Sofia Park before candy collecting

Eastmoreland (SE Portland) - Eastmoreland is frequently cited as one of Portland’s most atmospheric, full-of-character neighborhoods for Halloween. The area is almost entirely residential (with no major commercial corridors within the neighborhood) and residents are known to decorate elaborately and hand out generous treats.

Multnomah Village (SW Portland) - This business/residential district has walkable streets and plenty of local shops handing out treats. The Multnomah Village Business Association organizes the Trick-or-Treat Costume Parade along SW Capitol Hwy and after the parade, many families continue trick-or-treating in adjacent residential blocks.

🧭 Top 3 Tips for Enjoying October Around Portland

Plan ahead for weekend traffic, especially toward Sauvie Island or St. Helens, as some roads can slow during peak season.

1. Check hours & tickets - farms and haunted attractions often vary by day of the week, weather, or special events (e.g. “haunted maze nights”)
2. Dress in layers - October nights get chilly; wear waterproof shoes for muddy paths
3. Pick earlier in the month for best pumpkin selection and fewer crowds

October in Portland offers scenic farm excursions by day and eerie thrills by night. Whether you're carving your freshly picked pumpkin, making your way through a corn maze, or strolling a candy-laden neighborhood, the Portland area delivers!
