February/March is the perfect time to see how your house handled the winter months and knock out a few simple tasks that can prevent bigger (and more expensive) issues and improve comfort and curb appeal as we head into the warmer months. 

This spring checklist is tailored to Portland-area homes, where moisture management, moss, and drainage really matter.

Exterior Check-In

All that winter rain can quietly cause damage. A quick exterior check in spring helps stop moisture problems before they turn into rot, leaks, or foundation issues.

What to tackle:

• Take a look at your roof for missing shingles, flashing issues, or moss
• Clean out gutters and downspouts
• Check siding, trim, and paint for peeling, rot, or soft spots
• Power wash walkways, decks, patios, and driveways
• Inspect fences, gates, and exterior stairs for winter wear
